Summer & Holiday Programs
BHS Crew inaugurated a summer rowing program last summer and it turned out to be a wonderful thing. This summer, we've expanded the program. Enjoy a great experience and prove to yourself that you can row for BHS Crew.
New Rower Camp
Location: Jack London Aquatic Center
Dates: Session 1 - June 21-25, 4:30-6:45 pm
Session 2 - August 16-20, 4:30-7:00pm Note new start time!
Who: All current BHS or incoming BHS students who are interested in learning what rowing is all about.
Participants do not need to have any experience with rowing. Rowers are welcome to participate in both sessions.
This camp will be lead by Berkeley High Crew coaches and current rowers. BHS rowers will row, cox and help to teach the rowing technique and work ethic. This camp will focus on sweep rowing in eights and fours.
Cost: $75 for each participant (free for returning rowers who are helping)

Returning Rower Camp
Location: Jack London Aquatic Center
Dates: Session 1: July 5-9, 3:00-7:00pm
Session 2: August 16-20, 3:30-7:00pm Note new week and start time!
Who: All current BHS rowers
The goal of this camp is to spend some intensive time on the water focusing on technique and moderate to intensive steady state workouts. We will row in all size boats from singles to eights and work on both sculling and sweep technique. Rowers are encouraged to attend both sessions of this camp in preparation for the 2010-11 rowing year.
Session one participants will have the option of racing at the Lake Merritt Sprints on July 11 at Lake Merritt.
Cost: $10 per rower

Row Oakland's Summer Youth Rowing at Lake Merritt also provides a great chance to get out on the water. The Oakland Parks and Recreation department-sponsored series of week-long camps is run by BHS Crew Coach Chris Dadd and staffed by BHS Crew students.
